MATTAWAMKEAG – Shirley Frances Carver, 63, wife of the late George Martin Carver, went home to be with the Lord, April 8, 2006, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Aug. 18, 1942, in Kingman, the daughter of Orris and Pansy Worster. Shirley liked knitting, playing scat and cribbage, camping and traveling with her family. She also enjoyed attending the Mattawamkeag Bible Baptist Church. “Why do we close our eyes when we sleep, when we cry, when we imagine, when we kiss, when we pray? Because the most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen with your eyes, it must be felt with the heart.” She is survived by six children, David Carver and his wife, Kristy, of Lincoln, Tim Carver and his wife, Natasha, of Easton, Randy Carver and his wife, Heather, of Wilton, N.H., Eva Berry and her husband, Paul Jr., of Mattawamkeag, Juanita Tarr and her husband, Steve, of Sherman and Norma Osnoe and her husband, Craig, of Ludowici, Ga.; a sister, Dawn Merrill of Guilford; 13 grandchildren, Cassie and Ashley Carver, Austin and Evan Carver, Alexander Carver, Derek, Wayne and Bryan Berry, Deven, Adam and Matt Tarr and Robert and Brook Osnoe; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Camron and Katlyn. She is also survived by a very good friend of the family, Diane Slauenwhite, who referred to Shirley as “Mom.” In addition to her husband, George, she was predeceased by a brother, Freeman Worster; and a sister, Carole Moules. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be held noon Wednesday at the Mattawamkeag Bible Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve McNally officiating. Interment will be in Sherman Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Mattawamkeag Bible Baptist Church.
