BREWER and MARS HILL Shirley H. Shaw, 88, wife of the late Leslie J. Shaw, died Nov. 11, 2007, at her home in Brewer. She was born May 29, 1919, in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, the daughter of William and Marjorie (McQuarrie) Roach. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mars Hill. Shirley had been employed as a cook at Mars Hill Hospital for more than 10 years. She was a member of the Goodwill Club, the Community Club and was a past president of the Mars Hill Fire Department Auxiliary. In addition to her husband of 56 years, she was predeceased by a son, Wesley Shaw; a daughter, Betty Lou Whildin; sisters, Cassie Brown, Mary Butler and Gerry Weeks; and brothers, Patrick, Leonard, Lawrence and James Roach. Surviving her are three daughters and their husbands, JoAnne and Dick Ault of Chipley, Fla., Susan and Jim Rocha of Dedham, and Marge and Robert Petersen of Brewer; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, William Roach of Perth Andover, New Brunswick; a daughter-in-law, Gladys Shaw of Inverness, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Duncan Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mars Hill, with the Rev. Raymond Morency, celebrant.
