PEMBROKE – Shirley M. Brown, 77, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at her daughter’s home in Seabrook, N.H. Shirley was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Lubec, the daughter of the late Clinton and Maretta (Hood) Ashby. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pembroke. Shirley loved life and lived it to its fullest. She enjoyed taking care of her yard and flower garden, cooking, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Clayton Brown; their twin daughters, Ruby and Mary Brown; two sisters, Arlene and Fay Ashby; and two brothers, Floyd and Dallas Ashby. Surviving are five children, Jenner Brown and his wife, Lori, of Carmel, Sharon Melanson of Seabrook, N.H, Ronald Brown of Berwick, Raymond Brown and his wife, Joann, of Bangor, and Brent Brown and his wife, Dee, of Fitchburg, Mass.; three sisters, Margaret Richardson of Jay, Christine Greenlaw of East Machias and June Gross of Dennysville; a brother, Clinton “Junior” Ashby of Charlotte; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 11 a.m.-noon Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Liberty Hill Road, Pembroke where a funeral service will be held noon with Pastor Gary Kinney officiating. Burial will be at Round Pond Cemetery, Charlotte.
