HOWLAND – Shirley M. Milton, 70, passed away Oct. 3, 2007, at her home, after a long battle with heart disease. She was born Nov. 20, 1936, in Howland, to Joseph and Olive (Ezrow) Terrio. Shirley was educated in Howland Schools and married the love of her life, Lawrence Milton Jr., Sept. 15, 1956. Together, she and Lawrence built a home and raised their family. Shirley worked in various shoe factories until 1985, when her heart condition would no longer allow. Even then, Shirley never slowed down. She always stayed busy, whether it was cooking, cleaning or taking care of her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Lawrence; and their three children, David and his wife, Anne, of Howland, Tammy and her husband, Doug Gray, of Weston, Fla., and Nancy and her husband, Thomas Osborn, of Howland. Shirley is also survived by seven grandchildren that she absolutely adored, Aric and Justin Gray, Mark Osborn and his fianc?e, Amanda Drost, Jessica (Osborn) Wallace and her husband, Darin, Jeremy Milton, Matthew Osborn and Sara, and Jamie Milton; a great-granddaughter, Ciyera Marie Wallace, who Shirley referred to as “Great Grammies’s Precious;” two brothers, Gerald and his wife, Kathy, and Delmont; six sisters, Eva Bickford, Doris Robinson and her husband, Joseph, Marilyn Terrio, Charlotte Georgio, Irene Webber, and Celia Bard and her husband, Richard; many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by a son, Paul Mark; three brothers, Harold, Robert and Albert; and two sisters, Rose and Melvina. The family thanks Community Health and Counseling, Hospice services, and Aaron and Rhonda for the care Shirley received. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating.
