MERIDEN, Conn. – Gary B. Pinkerton, 82, husband of Amber (Shorey) Pinkerton, died peacefully Sept. 26, 2007, at home. Born Aug. 17, 1925, in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late James Pinkerton and Lymar (Jackson) Pinkerton. He grew up in Maine, then moved to Meriden, Conn., in 1950. He attended Foxcroft Academy. Mr Pinkerton was employed by Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics Corp., retiring in 1990. He was a member of Center Congregational Church. He loved the outdoors, gardening and had many hobbies. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Amber (Shorey) Pinkerton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Louis A. Pink-erton and his wife, Dianna, of Meriden, Conn., Irving “Don” Pinkerton and his wife, Kathy, of North Carolina, and Earl G. Pinkerton and his wife, Maureen, of Meriden; four grandchildren, Jennifer “Jenna” Pinkerton, Karly-Forest Pinkerton, Jennifer Smith, and Kimberly Schmidt and her husband, Paul; two stepgrand-children, Daniel Miller, Nathan Miller and his wife, Michelle; four great-grandchildren, Ayanna, Derrick, Noah and Beyonce Smith; three sisters, Evelyn Cottrell of Dixmont, Betty Nutter of Newport and Gloria Rearden of Worcester, Mass. He was predeceased by his brothers, James and Wilmont Pinkerton. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service to be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Gray Cemetery, Guilford Road, Dover-Foxcroft. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, Conn., has been assisting the family.
