GREENFIELD, Mass. – Shirley V. (Carruthers) Osgood, of 16 Raingley Road, and Jupiter, Fla., died Monday, June 16, 2008, at Hospice of Palm Beach County, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She was born in Orono, the daughter of Gordon and Clara (Anderson) Carruthers. She was a graduate of Brewer High School, Brewer. Shirley was a receptionist for various physicians in Bangor. She was an avid beach lover, enjoyed the sun, family and friends. Her first husband, Norman Varney, predeceased her in 1967. Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Ralph B. Osgood; two daughters, Joan Reichardt and her husband, James, of Jupiter, Fla., and Jackie Taylor and her husband, Wayne, of Brewer; two sisters, Margaret Eaton of Brunswick and Pearl Banks of Liberty; five stepchildren, Ellen, Laurie, Bart, Gail and Katy; five stepgrandchildren; a sister-in-law, Rowena Varney of Brewer; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private with private burial at Green River Cemetery. There is no calling hours.
