BANGOR – Helen P. Strock, 92, passed away June 23, 2008, at a local nursing facility. She was born Oct. 6, 1915, in Dover, the daughter of Lena B. (Delano) Palmer and Fred W. Palmer. She was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Dover-Foxcroft, and Westbrook Junior College, Portland. She left Dover-Foxcroft in December of 1941, for Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Office of Production Management later named War Production Board. She transferred to the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in 1946, retiring in 1972, as administrative assistant. After retiring from the federal government, she worked from 1974 to 1984 at Brookings Institution, Washington, D.C. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert F. Strock; and two sisters, Beryl Palmer Shaw and Beth Palmer Lanpher. She is survived by two nephews, Richard L. Shaw and wife, Jane, of Machias and family, and Robert P. Shaw of Zephyrhills, Fla., and family; two nieces, Mary Lanpher Rideout and husband, Blaine, of Dover-Foxcroft and family, and Joan Lanpher Clark of Abbot and family. A graveside committal service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, in the family lot at Rural Grove Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home.
