MILLINOCKET – Shirlie E. Walls, 89, wife of the late John B. Walls, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at Colonial Health Care, Lincoln. She was born Sept. 25, 1917, in Millinocket, the daughter of Chester and Margaret (Farquhar) Marston. She was a graduate of Stearns High School, Class of 1935. While in high school, she excelled in the girl’s basketball team and was voted best looking of her senior class. After graduation, she attended beautician school in Bangor and practiced her chosen profession from her home for many years. She was a very loving and dedicated at home mother who instilled the values that her son and daughter lived by throughout their lives. Shirlie is survived by her son, Charles “Ted” Walls and his wife, Donna, of Yarmouth; grandsons, Joshua Walls and his wife, Becky, Brian Walls and Donald Jay Billingham Jr.; a granddaughter, Alison (Billingham) Ravins and her husband, Andy; a great-grand-daughter, Liliana Dawn Ravins; two sisters, Emily Pound and her husband, Ozzie, of Millinocket and Constance Tweedie of Bucksport; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Shirlie was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Billingham; a son-in-law, Donald Jay Billingham; and a brother, Roland Marston. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Millinocket Baptist Church, 297 Penobscot Ave., Millinocket, with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck, pastor, officiating. All are welcome to come and celebrate her wonderful life. Private interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery at a later date.
