WILTON, Conn. and FORT FAIRFIELD – Sister Barbara LeVasseur CND, 77, died March 2, 2006, at the Lourdes Healthcare Center in Wilton, Conn. She was born July 2, 1928, at Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Theodore and Mary Ella (Sirois) LeVasseur. She graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1947, and attended Husson College for one year. After working in Fort Fairfield she entered the Congregation de Notre Dame in Montreal, Quebec in 1950. She earned her bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J. and attended Catholic University in Washington, D.C., where she worked on her master’s degree in business education. She taught school in New Haven, Conn., Short Hills, N.J., Stamford, Conn., St. Albans, Vt. and then to Guatemala where she worked in the Missions for five years. Upon returning to the United States she resided in Ridgefield, Conn. until it was necessary for her to go to The Lourdes Healthcare Center. She was predeceased by brothers, Renis, Oscar, Lawrence, Bernard, Dennis, Reginald and Theodore Jr.; and sisters, Alice Gabriel and Isabella LeVasseur. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Rosina LeVasseur of Pioneer, Calif. and Edwina LeVasseur of Fort Fairfield, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews along with her Sisters from the Congregation of Notre Dame that gave her a great deal of tender loving care in her final years. Calling hours were held March 5, and the funeral was held March 6, at Villa Notre Dame Chapel in Wilton, Conn. Committal services were held in the St. Peters Cemetery, CND Section, Kenosia Avenue, Danbury, Conn.
