LEXINGTON, N.C. – Stanley “Stan” Edwin Greenacre, 84, passed away peacefully March 27, 2008, at the Carolina House, Lexington, N.C. Stanley was born Dec. 19, 1923, in New Haven, Conn., to Charles Allen and Annie (Gifford) Greenacre. Stanley was a career military veteran consisting of the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air National Guard. His service war engagements were World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He received many service awards and ribbons, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He continued his civil service work after his military service with the U.S. Postal Service and the Veterans’ Administration. Stan had resided in Lexington, N.C., for the past 28 years with the past five at the Carolina House, Lexington, N.C. Stanley is survived by one daughter, Isolde Katharina Fricker and husband, Helmut Franz Fricker, of New Ulm, Germany; four sons, Allen J. Greenacre and wife, Joyce, of Windham, Neil B. Greenacre and wife, Debbie, of Belling-ham, Wash., David E. Greenacre and wife, Karen, of Sidney and Miles S. Greenacre and wife, Cynthia, of Hampden; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In keeping with Stanley’s wishes, interment will be private at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
