BANGOR – Stanley M. Emerson Sr., 82, husband of the late Lois (Gillis) Emerson, died May 15, 2004, at an Orono healthcare facility. He was born Sept. 29, 1921, in New Limerick, the son of Harold and Lillian (Moody) Emerson. Stanley grew up in New Limerick and then moved to Bangor, where he spent most of his married life. He worked for the Maine Central Railroad and operated Emerson’s Television and Repair in Bangor for many years. Stanley enjoyed, spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing guitar and harmonica, fishing and time spent at their camp on Green Lake. Stanley and his wife, Lois (Gillis) Emerson, were married for 65 years and had four children. Survived by two sons, Stanley Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Stetson, Bayfield and his wife, Louise, of Hermon; two daughters, Elaine and her husband, Larry Hallett Sr., of Glenburn, Paulette Archer and her long time friend, Alan Harvey, of Carmel; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Emerson of Brockton, Mass.; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, John, Ralph, Edward; and one sister, Doris Emerson. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Peter Sprague, pastor of the Columbia Street Baptist Church, officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Birch Grove Cemetery, Glenburn.
