NEWPORT and SKOWHEGAN – Stella Louise Boulier, 79, passed away at home following a brief illness Sunday, June 12, 2005, surrounded by her family. She was born June 24, 1925, in Patten, the daughter of John C. and Myrta (Palmer) Shorette. She attended local schools in Patten. She was married to Don Wiles who died in 1974. She later married Joseph L. Boulier in 1989 and made their loving home in Newport. Stella was Joseph’s caregiver and soul mate through his long battle with cancer until his death April 19, 2005. Stella was a hard working woman with a variety of occupations. She spent six years working at the Mormon Temple in Washington, D.C. She spent the last sixteen years tying bows for Central Maine Wreath. Stella was an avid hunter, fisher, and gardener. She enjoyed outdoor activities with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for many years. Stella is survived by her four children, Ambrose “Tom” McCarthy and partner, Debbie Grant, of Skowhegan, John McCarthy and wife, Barbara, of Portage, Ohio, Sandra Burrell and husband, Reagan, of Palmyra, Phyllis Stevens and husband, Roger, of Smithfield; three stepchildren, Billy Boulier and wife, April, of Palmyra, Robert Boulier and wife, Debbie, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Brenda Haroldson and husband, Elliot, of South Park, Penn.; three sisters-in-law, Lois “Andy” Boulier of East Newport, Helen Haining and Marion Austin, both of Newport; 17 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; special friends, Dick and Brenda Jackson, Jerry and Danita Humphrey all of Newport, Rachel Friend of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by two children, Phillip and Patrick McCarthy. Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Libby Rd., Newport with burial following at Southside Cemetery, Skowhegan.
