COSTIGAN and FRENCHVILLE – Stella Louise Cannain, 60, passed away Dec. 8, 2007, with her significant other, Don; daughter, Donna; and son, Michael, at her side at her Frenchville home. She was born May 20, 1947, in Manchester, N.H., the oldest child of Lucien and Valerie (Gagnon) Morency. Stella was a gentle, generous woman with an open, giving heart. She was a hard worker, dedicated to and passionate about her family. Stella’s sense of humor was also known to cause some laughter. She and her significant other, Don, shared a love few will ever know. In the last three years they moved to Frenchville, where they made their home and Don cared tirelessly for Stella until her final moment out of love for her. There are not words to describe the blessing Don was to Stella and her family. She was predeceased by her parents; and husband, Don-ald Cannain. She will be greatly missed by her significant other, Don Bartlett; daughter, Donna Farris and her significant other, Capt. Dean Stultz; son, Michael Cannain and his wife, Christie; son, James Cannain; grandchildren, Matthew and Donovan Farris, and Landry Bowdoin; brother, Jean Morency and his significant other, Virginia; many nieces, nephews, great-niece, great-nephews, aunts and uncles. Stella’s family extends their most heartfelt and sincere appreciation to Dr. Denise Anderson of Fort Kent. She went above and beyond all expectations as she made house calls, took the time to share stories, and cried with Stella and her family. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, with the Rev. Joan DeSanctis. Interment will be in the spring.
