BARING – Stephen James “Jim” McGoldrick, 80, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at a Calais hospital. Jim was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Rhode Island. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Jim married Muriel Douglas on Sept. 15, 1965, in Calais. He worked as a boiler maker, traveling to mills to construct and repair boilers. After living in East Whareham, Mass., Jim and Muriel moved to Baring, upon his retirement in 1988. Jim was predeceased by his wife, Muriel, on June 24, 2000; and a nephew, Darren McGovern. Surviving are his sister-in-law, Ila McGovern and her husband, Eugene, of Baring; a brother-in-law, Ralph Douglas and his wife, Betty, of South Meriden, Conn.; four nephews, Dana McGovern of Florida, Steven McGovern of Bangor and Florida, Larry Douglas and his wife, Liz, of Connecticut, and Gary Jones and his wife, Debby, of Waterville; and a great-nephew, Darren McGovern of Baring. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Calais Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Arrangements by Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, Calais.
