BLAINE – Steven P. DeLong, 48, loving husband, father and son, died unexpectedly Jan. 22, 2007, in Bangor. He was born Dec. 25, 1958, in Houlton, the son of Russell W. and Leona (Porter) DeLong. He was a member of the Bridgewater Baptist Church. Steve served in the U.S. Army as a ranger for 15 years, serving his country well during Dessert Storm. He was employed as a tractor trailer driver since 1991, but what he enjoyed most in life was spending time with his wife and beloved children. In addition to his mother of Bridgewater, Steve is survived by his wife, Paula (Brewer) DeLong; his children, Bryan and Jessica Grew and Russell and Carl DeLong, all of Blaine; brothers and sisters, Dennis and his wife, Lee, of Athens, Ala., Jerome and his wife, Janice, of Littleton, Susan of Houston, Darla of Presque Isle, Diane of Bridgewater, Ann of Winsted, Conn., Brian of Presque Isle, Jill of Houston, and Julie of Monticello; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Pam Brewer of Blaine; sister-in-law, Lona Brewer of Presque Isle; mother-in-law, Madeline Kinney of Blaine; uncle, Richard Jewell of St. Albans, Vt.; aunt, Yvonne Dearborn and her husband, Henry, of Bridgewater; and aunt, Isabelle Allen of Houlton. Predeceasing him, in addition to his father, was a brother, Mark; a sister, Karen; and a special little girl, Megan Bradstreet. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at the Bridgewater Free Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Vaughn officiating. Relatives and friends may call noon until the time of the service at the church. A military committal service will be held at Smith Cemetery, Bridgewater, later in the spring.
