PORTLAND – Steven “Sam” A. Megquier, 43, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 7, 2008. He was born May 4, 1965, in Portland. He grew up in North Yarmouth and graduated from Greely High School, Class of 1984. For most of his life he lived and worked in the Gray area and more recently in Greenville. Sam was a true artist as a stone mason and he took great pride in his work. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, bright smile and the ways he made us laugh. He loved all animals, but especially his two dogs and cat, Sheani, Buddy and Kitty, who were always with him even on the job. Sam will be greatly missed by his parents, Penelope B. Megquier of Gray and Rodney L. Megquier of Yarmouth; son, Michael Haines of Phillips; brothers, James Megquier and Bradford Megquier of North Yarmouth; sister, Molly Megquier Washo of Cumberland; extended family, friends and all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at North Yarmouth Congregational Church Fellowship Hall, 3 Gray Road, North Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the animal shelter of choice. Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives Group, 500 Route One, Yarmouth.
