CONNORS, N.B. – Susie Bernier passed away Oct. 29, 2005, at the Edmundston Regional Hospital. She was born April 14, 1914, in Pelletier’s Mill, N.B., the daughter of John L. and Mary Ellen Harvey Sullivan. A resident of Connors for 63 years, Susie was instrumental in preserving the history and culture of the village and its founding resident, Robert Connors. She founded the Pioneer Historical Society of Connors and through the creation of its museum contributed significantly to youth employment in the area. Susie was a passionate member of the Liberal party and enjoyed a lively political debate. Her home was always a warm, welcoming haven for visitors and friends with Susie at the centre – offering a cup of tea, a good story and gracious hospitality. Susie loved people and was energized by their lives and shared passions. Her love of Connors and its residents extended for her entire life and her sense of humor and fun never left her. She was an original and will be greatly missed by her large, loving family and many friends. Susie is survived by her sons, Armand and his wife, Rachel, of Connors, N.B., Lionel and his wife, Stella, of Lancaster, Pa., John and his wife, Elayne, of Burley, Ind., Robert and his wife, Claudette, of Sussex, N.B.; her daughter, Margo and her husband, Paul Kelly, of Lincoln; her dear sister Jean’s daughter, Susan Clarke, of Dartmouth, N.S.; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grand-children; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Martin Larson; her sister, Jean Clarke; and her special cousin, Verna Harvey Kelly. She was predeceased by her husband, Romeo T. Bernier; and son, Gerald. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. (Canadian Time) Monday, Oct. 31, and 2-3:30 p.m. (Canadian Time) at the Bernier Home, 3614 Route 205, Connors, N.B. Funeral mass will be held 4 p.m. (Canadian Time) Tuesday, Nov.1, at Notre Dame du Rosaire, Connors. Arrangements are in the care of Brunswick Funeral Home, Edmundston, N.B.
