STEUBEN and SCARBOROUGH – Susan Wilhemina Stevens Watson, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2004, in South Portland. She was born Dec. 24, 1907, in Steuben, the only child of Guilford Warren and Myrtie White Pinkham Stevens. After attending local schools, she graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in 1924, and in 1928 received a B.A. in mathematics from Colby College, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She taught school at Milbridge High School, Monson Academy, and in Sedgwick until her marriage to Russell Elliott Watson on July 18, 1941. A life member of the Alcyone Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Susie held the Boston Post Cane as the oldest resident of Steuben. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell, in May 1968. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susanne W. and Dale E. Sinclair of Scarborough; her grandson, Stephen R. Langlois and his wife, Sally L. Marrer; her great-granddaughter, Sophie W. M. Langlois, all of Hamilton, Mass.; and several dear nieces and nephews, Carolyn Foster of Machias, Jean Hillard of Cocoa, Fla., Marcia Jordan of Ellsworth, James Watson of Gouldsboro, and Gerard Willey of Titusville, Fla. Funeral services and interment will be held later in the year. Gifts in memory of Susan may be sent to the Steuben Union Church, care of Margaret Ginn, Steuben, ME 04680.
