PENOBSCOT – Susie M. (Carter) McEwen, 99, died April 29, 2004, at a Penobscot nursing facility. She was born Jan. 7, 1905, in Sedgwick, the daughter of John P. and Bertha M. (Ford) Carter. Susie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She lived in Fort Fairfield for 20 years with her second husband. Susie is survived by her daughter, M. June Webster and husband, Lloyd, of Penobscot; three granddaughters, Cheryl Knowles and husband, Jerry, of Machiasport, Vicki Falle and husband, Bruce, of Oromocto, New Brunswick, and Jacqueline Webster of New York; seven grandchildren, Bethany, January, Erik, Claire, Emilie, Charlotte, and Alecia; several nieces and nephews. Susie was predeceased by a son, Ivan Bridges in 1949; husband, Hollis Bridges in 1962; husband, Arthur McEwen; five siblings; and a great-granddaughter, Rebekah. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St. Bucksport, with a graveside funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, at the Bay Cemetery, Penobscot, with Rev. Dr. Tracy Reeves officiating.
