PROSPECT – Suzanne Kathryn (Purcell) Rair, 76, passed away April 6, 2007, while at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 11, 1931, in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of Frank and Dorothy Purcell. Sue was a 1949 graduate of Country Day School of the Sacred Heart and attended Manhattanville College. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania as a medical technician. An avid gardener, Sue frequently gave lectures on the history and the many medicinal uses of herbs. She was a devoted member of St. Gabriel’s Parish, Winterport, and among her many volunteer activities was acting as the coordinator of the parish prayer line. Sue is survived by her husband of 52 years, Duane K. Rair of Prospect; daughter, Stephanie Rair Abbott and her husband, Joe, of Radnor, Pa.; sons, Michael Rair and his companion, Barbara Bradgon, of Brewer and David Rair and his wife, Michele, of Pearl City, Hawaii; as well as eight grandchildren. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Winterport, with the Rev. Robert Vaillancourt, pastor, celebrant.
