ISLAND FALLS – Terry D. Desmond, 63, loving husband, father and grandfather, died at his home Feb.1, 2006. He was born Oct. 6, 1942, in Island Falls, the son of Pearl and Gertrude (Stairs) Desmond. Terry married Jacqueline Michaud in 1965 and they celebrated their 40th anniversary last October 2. Terry and Jackie made a marriage encounter in 1978, Cursillo in 1980. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-1964, worked for National Starch for 30 years and Katahdin Trust for eight years. He had been a volunteer fireman and ambulance driver. Terry was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and at one time was president of the Parish Council. Terry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He stated that he was thrilled to be alive to see the Red Sox win the World Series. Besides his wife of Island Falls, he is survived by two children, Lynn and her husband, Larry LeVasseur, of Glenburn and Paul and his wife, Lana Desmond, of Oakfield; four grandchildren, Vanessa and Jeromy Nevers and Logan and Taylor Desmond; four brothers, Terry and his wife, Mable Desmond, of Mapleton, Dale and his wife, Winnie Desmond, of Crystal, Donnie and his wife, Brenda Desmond, of Portsmouth, N.H. and Kenny and his wife, Pat, of Easton; three sisters, Betty and her husband, Fred Quint, of Patten, Kathy and her husband, Bob Merrill, of Presque Isle and Sharon Porter of Old Town; sister-in-law, Joanne Desmond of Island Falls; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Justine Michaud of Milford, Harry and Carole Michaud of Lee and Roger and Sidsel Michaud of Hudson; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Sike Desmond. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, at the Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Agnes Catholic Church Island Falls, with Father Eddy Morin, celebrating. Pallbearers will be nephew, Robert Merrill Jr. of Presque Isle; friend, Brian Gould of Island Falls; friend, Ronnie Ryan of Bangor; nephew, Ted Desmond of Presque Isle; nephew, Phillip Desmond of Crystal; and nephew, Ronnie Michaud of Brewer.
