MILLINOCKET – Sylvia D. Charette, 72, died at a local hospital Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006. She was born April 18, 1933, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Philip and Eunice (Gendreau) Deschaine. Sylvia was a determined woman who raised four children on her own. In 1973, she met Richard Cote Sr. and moved to Millinocket and made their home there. Her heart and soul were always focused on the care and love of her family and they, in turn, were always there to return that love to her. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Richard Cote, Sr. of Millinocket; four children, Andrea and husband, Jerry Slapski, of Bristol, Conn., Cynthia Lockshire of Medford, Mass., Penny and husband, Monty Walsh, of Millinocket and Mark Charette of Virginia; eleven grandchildren, Christina, Melanie, Charles, Tammy, Jerry Jr., Matthew, Tony, Jacob, Corey, Zachary and Erica; four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Holly, Tina Rose and Jason; three brothers, Joyime Deschaine of Fort Kent, Chester Deschaine of Chicope, Mass. and Arnold Deschaine of Millinocket; three sisters, Maybeline Hebert of Plainville, Conn., Nora Bouchard of Burlington, Ky. and Altine Albert of Southington, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Richard’s family, his five children, Richard Cote Jr., Robert Cote, Sharon Hamilton, Linda Langlais and Joan Cote; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Alphonse and Donald; and a sister, Jean. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m Saturday, Feb. 4, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
