CARMEL – Thelma E. Johnson, 72, entered into eternal rest Feb. 3, 2004, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a lengthy battle with heart disease. Thelma was born in Chester on Nov. 27, 1931. She was the last of 10 children born to Edna and John Jordan. After attending local schools, she married Edward Johnson. She worked as a waitress at Yoken’s, a caregiver, and her husband’s carpentry assistant building homes in the Eliot area. In 1976, Thelma and Edward moved to Carmel. Thelma loved spending winters in Florida and Texas. She enjoyed nature immensely-flowers, birds, fishing, and sight-seeing with the gals! Her passions were painting, traveling, making crafts, playing games, and time spent with friends and family. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Edward Johnson of Carmel; a daughter, Gail Arsenault and her husband, Rusty of Garland; a son, Gregory Johnson, and his wife, Sheila, of Old Orchard Beach; five grandchildren, Jeni Johnson, Derek Francis, Heather Francis, Ashley Johnson, Michelle Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Mollie Robichaud; a sister, Ramona Smith; a special friend, Shirley Lathrop; a special niece, Pauline Whitney, and numerous other family members and friends. Family and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday, February 7, at Clay Funeral Home, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday. Flowers in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
