TRUMBULL, Conn. – Agatha Louise Qualey, 80, of Trumbull, Conn., formerly of New Canaan, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, Conn., after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Qualey. Mrs. Qualey was born Feb. 4, 1923, in Benedicta, the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophronia Rush. She attended St. Joseph’s Academy, and was a graduate of Madigan Memorial School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for more than 50 years, working for more than 40 years as a maternity nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stamford until her retirement. Mrs. Qualey also served as a first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps in Italy during World War II. She is survived by a son, Brian Qualey of Ridgefield, Conn.; three daughters, Sharon Czel of Bethel, Conn., Mary Qualey of New Canaan, Conn., and Maureen Taylor of Prospect, Conn.; three brothers, Edward Rush of Sherman Station, Robert Rush of Concord, Mass., and Joseph Rush of Benedicta; and 11 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Kevin Qualey. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Benedict’s Church, Benedicta.
