YUBA CITY, Calif. – Thelma M. D’Amboise, 88, formerly of Ocala, Fla., and Brewer, died peacefully, Tuesday June 5, 2007, at an assisted living center in Yuba City, Calif. She was born Dec 20,1918, in Brewer, the daughter of Henry and Viola Chute. Thelma spent most of her young life in the Bangor-Brewer area, graduating from Brewer High School in 1937. She was involved in sports, including basketball and cheerleading. After graduation she married her high school sweet-heart, Gerald A. D’Amboise. They went on to raise four children in a loving home. After her husband retired, they moved to Florida, settling in the Ocala area, until Gerald’s passing in 2003. Thelma then moved to California to be near her two daughters. She enjoyed bowling, short trips with the Golden Girls and eating at Kentucky Fried Chicken. In the short time she was there, she made many, many friends. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Constance and Stanley Flagg of Georgetown, Calif., William and Carol D’Amboise of Charleston, Gerald Jr. and Cynthia D’Amboise of Glenburn and Mary Lou and George Peters of Yuba City, Calif. She will be sadly missed by 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; and three sisters, Laura Danforth, Barbara Andrews and Merle Ashey. At her request, she will be cremated and her ashes returned to Maine. Later in the fall there will be a private family memorial service.
