STRATFORD, Conn. – Theodore Richard McClean Jr., 78, previously of Van Buren, beloved husband for more than 60 years to Blanche M. (Voisine) McClean, entered eternal life, Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, in Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, Conn. Mr. McClean was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Bridgeport, Conn., son of the late Theodore Richard and Catherine (Warland) Sr. He retired from the town of Stratford’s maintenance department in 1983, after 28 years. After his retirement, Blanche and Ted moved to Blanche’s hometown of Van Buren, for 17 years before moving back to Stratford, Conn. He was a past president of the Lions Club of Van Buren, a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree Knight, member of the American Legion, Van Buren, member of the planning and zoning committee for Van Buren, a merchant marine veteran of World War II, a bingo volunteer for the Lions Club in Van Buren, and Saint James in Stratford, Conn. enjoyed playing Santa for various organizations in northern Maine and Canada, a previous director RSVP of Van Buren and a previous director of the Aroostook County area Agency on Aging. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife include his three children, Kenneth McClean and his wife, Diana, Brenda K. Sholomicky and her husband, Harry and Suzanne Simon and her husband, Robert, all of Stratford, Conn.; his nine adored grandchildren, Kenneth McClean Jr., Thomas Theodore Marra and his wife, Lisa, Tracey Kay and her husband, David, Daniel Marra and his wife, Carmen, Matthew Sholomicky, Catherine Simon, Patrick Simon, Michael McClean and Joseph McClean; two great-granddaughters, Amanda and Deanna Marra; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred (McClean) White. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, Conn. and 10:30 a.m. in Saint James Church, Stratford for a funeral Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
