PORTLAND – Theresa Higgins, 75, of Riverside Street, died Nov. 15, 2003, at Mercy Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Orono, a daughter of Dennis J. and Lena Gagne Cyr. She enjoyed beano and playing cards. She especially loved music and having visits from all of her children and grandchildren. She was everyone’s mother at one time or another over the years. She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Therriault; brother, Larry Cyr; two sons, Larry Higgins, Wayne “Yogi” Higgins and a daughter, Lisa Higgins-Wedge. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Carroll Higgins of Portland; four daughters, Melody Higgins of Portland, Carol Higgins of Windham, Cindy Higgins-Bridges of Westbrook, Donna Higgins of Westbrook; two sons, Dennis Higgins of Buxton and Bobby Higgins of Mexico; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at Hay & Peabody Funeral Home, 749 Congress St., Portland, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Forest City Cemetery in South Portland, In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the American Lung Association, 122 State St., August, ME 04330.
