BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Theron E. Gatchell “Gatch,” 91, formerly of Hampden and South Brewer, passed away Sept. 3, 2006. Theron was a Navy, Seebee, veteran of World War II, serving in New Guinea. Theron or as he was fondly known as “Gatch”, owned and operated a barbershop in South Brewer and in 1973 moved to Florida, where he managed a barbershop until his retirement. Gatch and Middie were avid golfers until their late 80s. Theron was a longtime member of Brooksville’s First United Methodist Church and served as head usher for many years. He was a member of Ralph J. Pollard Masonic Lodge and Gloverleaf’s High Twelve. Theron is survived by his wife of 67 years, Madeline “Middie” Gatchell; son, Danny and wife, Pauline; three grandchildren, Jodi, Ben and Mary; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Cameron. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at Floral City United Methodist Church.
