GORHAM – Thomas Alan Brown, 39, passed away peacefully Oct. 23, 2006, surrounded by his family and friends at his home. During his short time here on earth, Tom was a dedicated father to his pride and joy, 10-year-old daughter, Darcie; and a loving husband to his wife of 16 years, Mags. He was a treasured friend to Gary and MaryJo Lynch. Tom will be remembered by all who knew him for his wit and one-liners, his brilliant smile and his inclination to gently tease anyone about anything. Tom showed us the importance of enjoying ourselves by filling his days with laughter. Tom was born in Lincoln and raised in Medway and East Millinocket. He attended local schools, including Schenck High School where he played soccer and basketball. Tom and Gary have enthusiastically shared many stories with their children about the games played, lost, won and fought. Especially the game that should have been won, Schenck vs. Bucksport, 1984, at the Bangor Auditorium. After high school, Tom attended Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute’s welding program. Tom met Mags when she visited this country from Ireland in 1988. Tom’s friends and family knew she was “the one” when Tom chose to spend his November vacation, traditionally a hunting vacation, in Ireland to meet Mags’ family. They were married in Ireland in 1990. He worked as a welder for 10 years, until Multiple Sclerosis prevented him from continuing. Then for a few years, Tom and Darcie stayed home together. The two would often go on adventurous mishaps now cloaked with a special secrecy that only Tom and Darcie share. They also became regulars at several local donut shops. Tom is survived by his wife of 16 years, Margaret “Mags” Lowry Brown; their daughter, Darcie; his sister, Lisa Brown and her children, Rachel, Brittany and DJ, of Shirley, Mass.; grandmother Berniece Brown of Wytopitlock, Uncle Les and Aunt Julie Brown of East Millinocket; Uncle Buster Brown of Wytopitlock; Uncle Dan Hilchey of Tenants Harbor; and Aunt Susan Pepalis of Chicago; godson, Patrick and his family, Gary and MaryJo, Joey and Jacob Lynch; in-laws, Gerald and Maureen Lowry of Limerick, Ireland, and their family; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. We are happy that Tom is now at peace and has been reunited with his parents, Dick and Linda Brown; his brother, Ricky; his grandparents, Ted Brown, Fritz and Lydia Olson; and also ML. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Clay Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Waite officiating. Interment will be at Drew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maine Chapter of the MS Society, 170 US Route One, Falmouth, ME 04105. For an online register book, please visit www.clayfuneralhome.com
