CALAIS – Thomas J. O’Hara, 78, died peacefully Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at his home. Tom was born Jan. 12, 1928, in Calais, son of the late John and Louise (Armstrong) O’Hara. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Tom was employed for many years as an automobile salesman for Pratt Ford, then Pratt Chevrolet. He was an 18-year veteran with the Calais Fire Department, where he served as a lieutenant. Tom was a communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Calais; a member of St. Croix Council 149 Knights of Columbus; a lifetime member of Calais Regional Hospital Auxiliary; and enjoyed golfing, reading and traveling. He was predeceased by three sisters and a brother. Surviving are his loving wife, Ilene (Sparks) O’Hara; two children, Donna Rielly of Pittsfield and Michael O’Hara and wife, Diane, of Auburn; three stepchildren, Jay McVicar and wife, Gail, of Terryville, Conn., Francis McVicar and Debra of Baileyville and Bobby McVicar of St. Stephen, New Brunswick; a sister, Winnifred Wysocki of Brannenton, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at the First Congregational Church, 21 Calais Ave., Calais, by Fr. Frank Morin. Burial will be after the service at Calais Cemetery.
