BANGOR – Thomas “Tom” Scott Grimes, 27, died at his Bangor home. He was born June 20, 1976, in New York City, the son of Kenneth and Nancy (Greene) Grimes. He attended Proctor Academy in Andover, N.H., and graduated from Monsignor McClancey High School in New York. Tom had a generous and big heart and a zany and offbeat sense of humor and gave the best hugs in the world. He left behind beautiful gardens that he help build with his Mom and Dad. He courageously coped with a devastating illness since childhood. Tom’s love will be with his family and friends forever. We pray that Tom’s death will be a new beginning for him. He is survived by his parents, Ken and Nancy (Greene) Grimes of Winterport; his grandmother, Cecilia Grimes of New York City; aunt and uncle, Pat and Harvey Weiss of New Jersey; aunt, Diane Greene of Sacramento, Calif.; three special cousins, Tessa, Molly and Dylan, all of California; cousin, Frank of New York City; and a number of other cousins. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Hampden, with Rev. Robert Vaillancourt, pastor, celebrant. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Parish Hall immediately following the Mass. Spring interment will be at Portage Municipal Cemetery, Portage. If you would like to remember Tom in a special way contributions may be sent to NAMI BANGOR, 1510 North Main St., Winterport, ME 04496.
