CHERRYFIELD and BANGOR Myra F. Smith, 92, wife of the late Harold A. Smith, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Cherryfield, Dec. 24, 1911, the daughter of Maurice E. and Louise L. (Strout) Strout. Myra was a graduate of Cherryfield Academy. During World War II, and for several years after, she worked at the Raytheon Company in Waltham, Mass. In 1962, Myra and Harold moved back to Maine. She was an LPN for many years, and worked at the Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility. Myra was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Cherryfield, and the Rebekkahs. She loved her family very much, especially her great-grandchildren. She is survived by a son, Carl A. Smith and his friend, Malissa Carter, of Sedgwick; three grandchildren, Carl S. Smith and his wife, Michelle, of Framingham, Mass., and Daniel A. Smith and his wife, Kim, of Auburn, N.H., and Jennifer Ann Bartley of Austin, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Cullen, Nolan, Samantha, and Blake; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Myra was predeceased by her brother, Foster K. Strout. Graveside services will be held at the Smith Cemetery, Steuben, at a date to be announced in the spring. Gifts in memory of Myra may be sent to the First Congregational Church of Cherryfield, care of Foster Mathews, P.O. Box 232, Cherryfield, ME 04622. Arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge.
