CARY, N.C. and SOUTH ADDISON – Electronics technician Seaman Apprentice, Vance E. Caler, 21, of Cary, N.C., formerly of South Addison, died Sept. 30, 2006. He was born March 3, 1985, in Machias, the son of the late Linwood Caler and Kathryn (Look) Caler of Cary, N.C. Vance graduated from Portland High School in 2003. He furthered his education at the University of Maine – Orono, studying computer science. Electronics technician Seaman Apprentice Caler enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Great Lakes, Ill., where he completed his A school. Later he was stationed in Virginia Beach, Va., to receive further training. An avid reader of science fiction, Vance also loved to cook, enjoyed playing chess and listening to music. In addition to his mother, family members include a brother, Christopher R. Caler of Cary; a sister, Kristin L. Caler of Cary; maternal grandmother, Virginia Look of Falmouth; many aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Oscar L. Look Sr.; paternal grandparents, Otis E. and Mary (Urquhart) Caler. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge. Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at South Addison Union Church, Moo-seneck Road, South Addison, with High Priest Arthur Emerson and Pastor Harold Tyler officiating.
