FORT FAIRFIELD – Vaughn M. McMann Sr., 75, husband of Mrs. Helen A. McMann, died Sunday morn-ing, July 8, 2007, at a Caribou nursing facility, after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 13, 1932, in Fort Fairfield, the son of John W. Chambers and Cora L. McMann. Vaughn attended Fort Fairfield schools and was married to Helen A. Chambers, Dec. 12, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 190th Engineer Corp. Vaughn had been employed as a police officer in Fort Fairfield for 13 years, in Presque Isle for 12 years and also had been employed as a supervisor for Interstate Foods, Fort Fairfield. Mr. McMann greatly enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, fishing and hunting, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, Vaughn was predeceased by one brother, Wendell Chambers; two sisters, Shirley Chapman and Lottie Donovan. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen A. McMann of Fort Fairfield; three sons, Toby McMann and his fianc?, Joanne Skidgell, of Easton, Gregory McMann and Vaughn M. “Marty” McMann II and his wife, Christie, all of Fort Fairfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenna and David Blade, and Yvonne and Mark Pelletier, all of Fort Fairfield; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Rita Chambers of Saco; two sisters, Verna Lord of Wells and Doris Foss of Caribou; nine grandchildren, David Blade Jr. of Presque Isle, Amanda Blade, Lori McMann, April McMann, Matthew Mc-Mann, all of Fort Fairfield, Joshua McMann of Easton, Mark Pelletier II, Madison McMann and Vaughn McMann III, all of Fort Fairfield; one great grandchild, Sierra Blade of Presque Isle; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at United Parish Church, 4 Church St., Fort Fairfield, where a memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. with the Rev. Diane Langworthy officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the church immediately after the memorial service. Private interment will take place at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Vaughn to the Maine Veterans’ Home, 163 Van Buren Road, Caribou, ME 04736. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
