MILLINOCKET – Vaughn Whitehouse, 90, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at a local healthcare facility. He was the husband of the late Gertrude (Hersey) Whitehouse. Mr. Whitehouse was born Aug. 29, 1915, in Masardis, the son of Robert and Leona (Johnston) Whitehouse. During World War II, he worked for Connecticut metal production and fabrication factories. After the war, he returned to Millinocket to work with the Great Northern Paper Co., Town of Millinocket and the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad, where he retired. Vaughn enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, working part-time as a guide. He also loved baseball and basketball, as well as playing the guitar and accordion. Mr. Whitehouse is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Irene L. Nickerson and Wendell Whitehouse; and half-siblings, Pearl Smith Carter, Eunice Smith Clowes, Beecher Smith, Cecil Smith and Clair Smith. A memorial service will be held at a later date. R. L.
