LINCOLN – Velma B. Ross, 94, wife of the late Charles Albert Ross, died Nov. 2, 2007, at a Lincoln health care facility. Born May 19, 1913, in Topsfield, she was the daughter of Clementine (Bailey) Mitchell. Velma was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years and had a career as a waitress. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a regular patron at Daggett’s Lunch Counter, Topsfield and her extensive hat collection includes hats from all over. Velma is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lorraine Bailey of Topsfield; grandchildren, Nancy Burrill, Christine Gendreau and Leo, all of Lincoln, John “Nick” Bailey and Jill of Mars Hill, Patricia Thibodeau and Barry of Millinocket; great-granddaughter, Shandra Haskell and Lee of Lincoln; great-great-grandchildren, Katrina and Shane Haskell of Lincoln; and a stepdaughter-in-law, Josephine Ross and her family of Hampden. In addition to her husband and her mother, she was predeceased by a son, a sister and a stepson. Friends may call 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Hunnewell Acres Cemetery, Topsfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite charity be made in Velma’s name.
