BANGOR – Velma E. Austin, 74, wife of the late Ardane Austin, died Feb. 3, 2008, at a local hospital. She was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Old Town, the daughter of Fred and Emmaline (Tedd) Treadwell. Velma enjoyed bingo and was very kind-hearted to everyone that knew her. She most of all enjoyed her family and especially the grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, John Austin and his wife, Karen, of Kenduskeag, Ardane Austin and Paul Austin, both of Bangor; three daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Nelson Price of North Carolina, Donna and Robert Modery of Greenbush, and Karen and Scott Arbo of Brewer; two brothers, Arthur Treadwell of Virginia and Fred Treadwell Jr. of Florida; 10 grandchildren, Becky, Lance, Crystal, Michael, Jonathan, Amy, Ashley, Alexis, Sharene and Morgan; and three great-grandchildren.
