BANGOR – Velma S. Reynolds, 79, died peacefully April 26, 2008, at her home. She was born June 25, 1928, in Hampden, the daughter of Herbert and Mabel (Bessey) Shaw. Velma was a graduate of Ventura Jr. College, Ventura, Calif. She was employed for many years at the Tarrantine Club of Bangor and after the death of her father-in-law, she and her husband, Bob, managed the club until 1974. Velma loved her children and enjoyed traveling to visit her family in California. She also loved to dance with her husband, was captain of her bowling team and loved to laugh and enjoyed life. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert E. Reynolds of Bangor; four children, Donald E. Reynolds of Salinas, Calif., Gary D. Reynolds of Portsmouth, N.H., Sandra A. Regan and her husband, Mark, of Sacramento, Calif., and J. Scott Reynolds and his wife, Laureen, of Portsmouth, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Scott, Judy, Jim, Seth, Casey, Jenna, Sari, Robby and Shane; two great-granddaughters; one sister, Bessey Trout of California; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one son, Robert P. Reynolds; one brother and two sisters. A celebration of Velma’s life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix, pastor and teacher of All Souls Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
