SOUTH PARIS – Velman E. Parsons, 89, of South Paris passed away Nov. 22, 2005 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. He was born June 6, 1916, in Newburgh, the son of the late Roland Parsons and Mary (Ryder) Parsons. He later met and married Emily J. Knowlton July 16, 1939. He worked most of his life in the leather business. He loved his family very much and family gatherings, he was a kind and gentle man, he had a good mind, he was a man of great wisdom, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and he loved to travel. He is survived by two sons, Parker Parsons and his wife, Rachel, of Norridgewock, Ron Parsons and his wife, Katherine, of Norway; five daughters, Shirley Parsons of North Anson, Betty Pomealeau and her husband, David, of Oxford, Kathleen Parker and her husband, Gary, of Hartland, Paula Swanton and her husband, Carl, of Otisfield, Pauline Parsons of South Paris; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Nason and her husband, Morrill Sr., of Freeport; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sons, Baby Parsons, Robert and Anson; four brothers, Clifton, Rodney, Robert and Elwin; one sister, Elsie; and one grandchild, Dwayne. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Palmyra Village Cemetery in Palmyra. Arrangements are under the direction of Donald H.
