CALAIS – Velna E. Steadman, 75, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at a Calais hospital. Velna was born March 29, 1931, in Canada, daughter of the late Joseph and Era (Bigger) Lynch. She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Steadman; and two sisters, Mary Barbara McVicar and Gertrude Denis. Surviving are two sisters, Verle McIntosh and Roma Horne of Ontario; a brother, Bill Lynch of St. George; a son, John J. Steadman of Robbinston; three daughters, Debra Rodgers and husband, Neil, of Baring, Sandra Apt and husband, Daniel Tomah, of Princeton and Patty Russell and husband, Steve, of Calais; eight grandchildren, Connie, Richard, Trina, Tiffany, Zachery, Jamie, Michael and Shana; and three great-grandchildren, Brendan, Shane and Nate. Family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service 1 p.m. Friday, in Calais Cemetery with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating.
