SOUTH THOMASTON – Victor Albert Lehto, 78, died Feb. 15, 2004, at his home in South Thomaston, after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Arolyn Marise Gray Lehto, who died July 20, 1989. He was born Sept. 9, 1925, at Long Cove, St. George, the son of Victor Augustus and Impi Mannien Lehto. He attended Canton, Mass., schools and graduated from Boston Trade School. He worked as a mechanic with his older brother. He worked as a mechanic and truck driver for Donald Payson, delivering lime fertilizer to Aroostock Co. He was a machine operator and mechanic for Crowe Rope and Lace Co. He worked at the Samoset Resort as a maintenance supervisor. In his later years, he was self-employed with his own television repair shop. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Missionary Church in Thomaston. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races on TV. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah Lehto; a brother, Toivo Layman; and a sister, Silva Sturrock. He is survived by a son, Darrell Lehto of Millinocket; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Powell of South Thomaston; one granddaughter, Nora Kittrick; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Davis Funeral Home, 35 Knox St., Thomaston. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Wheelus officiating. Spring interment will be at the North Parish Cemetery, Wileys Corner at St. George. Friends are encouraged to make donations in Victor’s memory to the Trinity Baptist Missionary Church, P.O.
