BUCKS HARBOR – Victor W. Day, 80, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at Marshall Health Care in Machias after a long and courageous battle with Parkinsons. He was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Cooper, the son of the late William Crosby and Ethel (Day) Betts. Mr. Day was raised in Cooper by his grandparents, Vern and Amelia (Frost) Day. Victor was a retired construction worker and was a hard working long-standing member of the local No. 1377 for over 30 years. After retirement, he enjoyed being outdoors blueberry raking, tipping and gardening. He loved fishing and hunting and especially enjoying time with his family. He shared 60 years of marriage with his loving wife, Georgia (Colbeth) Day. In addition to his wife, family members include a son, Wade Day and his wife, Claire; daughter, Vickie (Day) Maker and her husband, Jay; a son, Brian Day and wife, Debbie; a son, William Day and his wife, MaryEllen, all of Bucks Harbor; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Jayson, Lindsay, Jarad, Ryan, Ashley, Jillian, Emily, Lydia, Michelle, Lee, Wayne and Christopher; 10 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Breanna, Joseph, Michael, Felicia, Shane, Matthew, David, Austin and Gavin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Larry Day in 1968. In addition to his son, he was also predeceased by brothers, Russell Betts and William Betts; and a sister, Leona Betts. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at the Machias Valley Baptist Church, Broadway Street, Machias. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Bucks Harbor.
