ASHLAND – Victoria Lynn Basso, 5, died tragically April 17, 2006, as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Route 11 in Ashland, which also claimed the lives of her three sisters, Paige Long, Melinda Long, and Trinity Basso. She was born Aug. 24, 2000, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Joseph A. Basso III and Deanne (Saucier) Basso. Victoria was in the kindergarten class at Ashland Central School. Full of life, Victoria made her presence known when she came into a room. She loved to dance and sing and was often seen doing the twist with her hands on her hips. She loved to go camping with her family and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors especially searching for night crawlers, a sport she termed “worm hunting.” She was also especially fond of her pet snake, AJ. Victoria is survived by her mother and father, Deanne and Joseph Basso III of Ashland; one brother, Thomas Long Jr. of Ashland; maternal grandparents, Hadley and Ella Saucier of Masardis; paternal grandparents, Patricia and Bob Pidgeon; paternal great-grand-mother, Elsie Basso; paternal stepgrandparents, Clarence and Geraldine Long of Ashland; Aunt Brittany, Aunt Reneake, Uncle Hadley, Aunt Tracy and “Unk” Kevin Baker Sr., Aunt Cindy and Uncle Hazen Walker, Aunt Vikki and Uncle Brad Ezzell, Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Bob Stevens, Aunt Jeannie and Uncle Gene Ouellet, Uncle Danny and Aunt Jeannie Long, Aunt Wanda and Uncle Larry Long, Aunt Nancy and Uncle Ferdie Samson, and all their families; and many other relatives and friends, too numerous to mention. Victoria will also be sadly missed by her favorite teacher, Mrs. Haines, all her friends in kindergarten, her special cousin and best friend, Kimberly Baker of Ashland, and her special friend, Brooke Robinson of Masardis. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Joseph Basso Jr. in 2002. Relatives and friends may call 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the Ashland Community High School. A funeral service will be held for Victoria and her sisters 2 p.m. Saturday at the high school, with the Rev. Donald Morton Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland Municipal Cemetery.
