BANGOR and CARIBOU – Vinal H. McBreairty, 88, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. A loving father and grandfather, he was born Aug. 13, 1917, in Allagash, the son of Thomas and Eunice (Kelly) McBreairty. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the 446th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force. He was a 55 year member of Local Union 567 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a graduate of Coyne Electrical School, Chicago campus. He is survived by his son, Milton and his wife, Laura, of Bangor; his daughter, Marilyn of Westbrook; three grandchildren, Katelyn Henderson and Lindsay and Ryan McBreairty; one brother, Ransford of Allagash; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Edith) Kelly of Allagash and Ida Begin of New Hartford, Conn.; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by an infant son; two brothers, Robert McBreairty Sr. and Perry McBreairty; and five sisters, Margaret (Hughey), Sarah (Haney), Mary (Walker), Velma (Kelly) and Belva (O’Leary). He will be sadly missed by his close friends Walter and Shirley Henderson of Hampden. Family and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Allagash Baptist Church, Allagash, with the Rev. John Dik, pastor, officiating. Spring interment will be at the Allagash Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vinal’s name may be made to the Maine Veterans’ Home, E-Unit, 44 Hogan Rd., Bangor, ME 04401.
