LINCOLN – Viola A. (Phinney) Hall, 91, died Nov. 3, 2006, at a Lincoln hospital, after suffering a massive stroke. She was born Dec. 14, 1914, in Lincoln, the daughter of Hartwell and Florence (Neal) Phinney. Viola was the head of the Methodist Youth Fellowship while she was in high school. She was valedictorian of Mattanawcook Academy, Class of 1932 and attended Farmington State Normal School. She was a member of OES and the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, married Feb. 3, 1938, Robert Hall of Lincoln; three sons, David Hall of Lincoln, Bruce Hall of Sutton, Mass., and Brian Hall of Enfield; three sisters, Lillian Boone, Marion Wilson and Merle Larlee, all of Lincoln; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Hartwell Phinney. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
