BREWER and BANGOR – Violet Elizabeth Curtis, 94, wife of the late Cecil H. Curtis, died peacefully Oct. 14, 2004, surrounded by her loving family, at a Bangor healthcare center. She was born May 22, 1910, in Bridgewater, Mass., the daughter of Alonzo and Effie (Jones) Crawford. Violet was a wonderful homemaker, a devoted wife and loving mother and was always known as a hard worker. She worked at the candy counter at W.T. Grants and for many years, she served patrons at the Lowder Hotel dining room. Violet was a member of the Seventh Day Advent in Hermon. She was a believer in Jesus Christ, her savior. Survivors include four daughters and a son, Annabelle Hutchings and husband, Robert, of Hermon, Geraldine Hutchings of Boise, Idaho, Roselle Barry of Ellsworth, Sally Day and husband, Harold, of Bangor, Robert Curtis and wife, Barbara, of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Roy Crawford of Holden; a son-in-law, Wilson Bragg; grandchildren, Robert Hutchings Jr., Sharon Geisler, Albert Hutchings Jr., Pamela Sweet, Jim Hutchings, Danny Curtis, Vicki Fisher, Michael Barry, John Barry, David Barry, Michele Farley, Debbie Edgecomb, Robert Stevens Jr., Lisa Whittemore, Diane Bragg, Judy Sharp, Valerie Bragg, Larry Bragg, Danny Bragg, Anthony Bragg and Karen Bragg; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Curtis; a daughter, Carolyn Bragg; two sons-in-law, Mike Barry and Albert Hutchings; three sisters, Ruby Smith, Faye Smith, Marjorie Clark; one brother, Doug Crawford. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, with Pastor Al Cyr of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hermon officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery.
