BELFAST – Violet R. Allison of Belfast died March 7, 2004, at a local nursing home. She was born on May 12, 1913, in Orono, to William and Clara Violette. She grew up in Millvale. She was married to Roland Allison in 1931. They spent the earlier part of their lives together in Connecticut, later moved to Deer Isle, and then to Belfast, where she has been an active member of Crossroads to Calvary Church, Morrill. Her career consisted of many titles, homemaker, mother, estate caretaker, profesional wallpaperer and volunteer in whatever area she was needed. She played an important role in the local nursing home, reading the bible, singing and praying for the residents there. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland Sr.; and brothers, Hector, Lewis, Leo, John, Woodrow; and two sisters, Mary Rose Violette and Jennie Weed. Violet is survived by one son, Roland Jr. and his wife, Winona, of Ontario, Canada; one foster daughter, Alice Brown of Maryland; one sister, Louise Jordan of Brewer; one brother, William Violette of Belfast; and by six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at the Rackliffe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 11, at the Crossroads to Calvary Church, Rt. 3, Morrill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads to Calvary Church in Morrill. Arrangements by Rackliffe Funeral Home, 54 Church St., Belfast.
