PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Virgil Wayne Goodwin, 65, of Garden City Drive, a master mechanic for Lloyd Long for many years before retiring in 1991, died Friday, at Fatima Hospital. He was the husband of Bessie Williams. Born in Carroll, a son of the late Berdie P. and Elvena (Moores) Webber. He was a Cranston resident for eight years, previously living in Providence. In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters, Eileen McCarten-Jencks of Cumberland, R.I., Donna McCarten of Little Compton, R.I., Cheryl Aurbin of Pomfret, Conn.; a son, Virgil W. Goodwin Jr. of Wilton, N.H.; a stepson, Thomas S. Sarkisian of Cranston, R.I.; two stepdaughters, Barbara Werfel of Onley, Md. and Jennifer Iovino of Warwick, R.I. He also leaves 12 grandchildren. He was the brother of Patricia Gott of Bangor and Berdie Paul Webber Jr. of Santee, Calif. and Arlene Brown of Sullivan. He was the husband of the late Joan Corbett and Sandra Stone. The funeral service and burial was held in Providence, R.I.
