GARLAND and BANGOR – Virginia Elizabeth Amidon Barber, 86, passed away March 7, 2007, in Surprise, Ariz. She was born July 1, 1920, in Worcester, Mass. She graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in psychology. Jinny married Clarence Edward Barber in 1943. Many years were spent as a homemaker, caring for her family in Brattleboro, Vt., and Holden, Mass. She also worked as a secretary, privately typing graduate theses for students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and at the Worcester Foundation for Biological Research. After their children were grown, Barb and Jinny moved to Garland and began a Christmas tree farm. In 1997, they sold the farm and moved to Glendale, Ariz., to live with their daughter, Deborah; and granddaughter, Abigail. After 60 years of marriage, her loving husband, Barb passed away in August 2001. Jinny is survived by her daughters, Kathryn and Deborah; and sons, Herbert Bradford and his wife, Kathi, and Brian and his wife, Miriam; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her brother, Richard and his wife, Eleanor; her sisters, Nancy and her husband, George, and Patricia and her husband, George; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Charles, Alan and Curtis; her parents and husband. A memorial service was held at Menke Funeral Home, Sun City, Ariz.
