EDDINGTON – Virginia E. (Maynard) Culver, 83, died April 11, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 4, 1922, in Pittsfield, Mass., the daughter of Wyatt and Helena (Mickle) Maynard. She was a homemaker, a member of the Clifton Baptist Church, the Maine Snowmobile Assn., Penobscot County Extension, 4-H Club, Eddington Historical Society, Toastmistress Club, the Garden Club, and volunteered at Leonard’s Mill in Bradley. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Newton D. Culver of Eddington; her son and wife, Bruce and Ruth Culver of Charlotte Hall, Md.; her daughter and husband, Kathleen and Michael Gentile of Rural Hall, N.C.; two sisters, Barbara Hoffman of Lebanon, N.Y., Madeline Pickens of Camden-Wyoming, Del.; one brother, Richard Maynard of Lanesboro, Mass.; six grandchildren, Ronald Bright, Lynne Beacham, Karen Angelopoulos, Deborah Engle, Richard Culver, Michelle Weiland; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Maynard. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. April 15, at Clifton Baptist Church with the Rev. William Stone, pastor, officiating. Private interment for the family will be held at a later date at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
